Shoes for right now

Shoes_iaec1103684_2Shoes are one of my weaknesses.

For starters, they almost always fit! But I have a couple pair that somehow make my feet ache, so much as I love them, I am going to get rid of them.

I'm feeling so brave about taking such a drastic step, because I may have finally found the perfect replacement. They look comfortable (though I'm a wee bit concerned about the thickness of the thong). They're casual, but definitely polished enough for the city. I'm hoping they'll be just what I need for a summer on the go.

Perfect summer sandal

Soulmate_lg Dress this up, dress it down: These can take you anywhere this summer. Thanks to T. for getting a pair as her go-to summer sandals. She has them in silver; I got a pair, which I'm still waiting for, in gold. (Admittedly, one doesn't typically think of Aerosoles as a stylish source for shoes, but these have partly changed my mind.)

And while we're on that website, how about these? Too cute, especially on sale for $49.

Clog on

Last year I wore a pair of Cordani clogs throughout the fall and then sometimes even on milder winter days, and sometimes even then without socks. Here is this year's style -- possibly even better than last year's (but, alas, even more expensive).

Shoes of color

I think I can say, without too much exaggeration, that the two days I anticipate most eagerly each year are when Giraudon New York comes out with its semi-annual collection. In the new spring/summer collection are several -- in bright, happy colors -- that I would wear in a heartbeat. I can't wait to wear this teal wedge with a black skirt and yellow cardigan.

Ballet flats to banish the winter blahs

This is about the time of year when you haven't made up your mind yet what to purchase for the next season (and the weather's not appropriate for it yet, anyway) but are just so darn tired of the stuff you've been wearing since September. Enter these ballet flats, which you can wear now and even into slightly warmer weather. And without the big price tag. (This site is great for small-investment "splurges.")

Stunning Michael Kors shoes

Michael_kors_flora I literally dreamt about this shoes last night. Actually, I was lying there, wide awake, at 5 in the morning, wondering whether I could in any way justify buying these beautiful Michael Kors shoes I'd seen, either in black or in silver, with a kelly-green upper. Naw, I decided -- I rarely wear black anymore, and the warm colors I do wear wouldn't work so well with the silver/kelly combo (as beautiful as it is). And these are not exactly $13 flip-flops. Then, I thought, if only it came in gold, with a camel upper. And voila -- I found, quite by chance, something very close (at Jildor.) I would wear these shoes everywhere, with everything, once the weather gets warmer.

Better than fuzzy pink slippers

K_jacquesQuick: What do you do when you don't feel like putting shoes and socks on on Sunday morning just to hang around the house? Do you go barefoot? Put just the socks on? Or hunt down those fuzzy pink slippers from a couple years ago?

When nothing less will do, consider these chic thongs at Shopbop. They're perfect year 'round indoors and will look great with everything when warmer weather comes.
